Description

--okay I am so done with this---

GARCHOMP, I HATE YOU WITH GREAT PASSION.

It's not one of my fav Pokemon EVEN IF I redesigned it on Spinosaurus at first and now more on Carnotaurus.
Still.
I cannot stand it. :iconsryyea: especially that people prefer land shark/ shark dragon over dinosaur Garchomp ;^;

Or maybe because it's just not my fav, but perfectionism makes me keep redesigning/re-thinking over challenging
Pokemon like Gliscor, Tropius, Scrafty or Steelix untill I feel I'm satissfied.

The first version redesign:
Spinosaurus based Garchomp

If you have read Weirda Mirrart's journal as part of description in my Spinosaurus-based Garchomp, you'll know
it will appear in comic. I feel it's just grrreat opportunity to show few things, but mostly...Weirda talking
with professor Sycamore and then professor Cycas(you know him as prof. Tipsy) to show the HUGE difference
between Pokemon professors and how Wei is feeling odd and demotivated with her interest in poke-zoology sometimes.
You'll see what I mean.

oh, before I'll start explaining my take on Garchomp:

I love to find out genesis of every Pokemon design, I try to follow original Pokemon as much as possible,
but please excuse me while I'm fascinated in evolution, wildlife odds and prehistory.
As an artist I also want to show something different, I'm always an opened mind, mind you! Thanks.

- - -
Please remember I only take inspirations from nature/evolution, I don't do animals redesigned as Pokemon.

-Garchomp is STILL based/inspired on Spinosaurus- maybe nothing in look, but places it's found
(like Spinosaurus fossil on desert ;) ), the livestyle- hunting on fishes/sharks, being a theropod that adapted
to swimming and not in clear water! Like Spinosaurus adapted to move in the mud, Garchomp adapted to deal
with quicksands and like Krookodile, swim in the sand. Well, I consider Pokemon World IS AN ALTERNATE UNIVERSE.
Maybe geology is a bit different and there's thicker superficial sand layer?

-Legs are shorter to refer to actual Spinosaurus paleozoology

-I like how some ppl base "fin-wings" on pterosauria since pterosaurs were more closely related to dinosauria
than even crocodiles, but...I study anime/sprites/3D models and I have never seen those bending.
Even Druddigon's wings bend, while Garchomp's highly represent shark fins. So that's why I'll always make
them as being on giant claw, being stiffen or quite stiffen structure

-rough skin HA refers to sharks, but COME ON, EVOLUTION IS FANTASTIC~ we have convergent evolution.
My Garchomp's closest cousin is Druddigon which has Rouch skin as standard ability

-the concept of throwing gases, jet plane inspiration....

NONONO I AM NOT GENIUS.
The main idea/inspiration is from TipsyRa1d3n's Garchomp report, while I just added thrivia about lizard
who can shoot the blood from its eye...and this is the place on the head, like Garchomp's "horns"!
Awh, I am happy- I shared some thrivia again :meow:

-I'm still thinking about its position in my W.I.P reptile Pokemon evolution and I think I'll throw it
like Druddigon, as equilavent of Neoceratosauria- located very early on evolution timeline with inheriting
various of genes on their own and specialized before some truly dominating species appeared (like Aggron or Tyrantrum
in late cretaceous)
For those who are interested in dinosauria or check google when curious- since my Gabite is based on Concavenator,
I put Druddigon, Gabite and Garchomp into Averostra- a group which has last common ancestor among Ceratosaurus
and Allosaurus

-there were few subsepcies of Ceratosaurus with more or less muscular apperance...I am crazy to try to connect
my poke-science with what's in Pokemon fandom...since many people base Garchomp on Tyrannosaurus, I consider
Garchomp subsepcies which is a bit more similar to famous T-Rex, but truthfully I base it on Ceratosaurus
dentisulcatus

-the idea of male's back outgrowth difference is based on...polish kind of army! Hussars.
I have the same idea for Latios/Latias, but that's in my (old like million years) W.I.P
"Favourite Pokemon of each type inspired challenge"

-NOW SOMETHING YOU MIGHT NOT AGREE, but we all have different opinions and imagination:
my Gible is based on...toad apperance. Dunno what's with its anatomy yet, but I also want to connect
the idea of "horned toad"/Short-Horned Lizard. Like treecko the lizard evolves into theropod Grovyle,
Gible even being digging mammal-like reptile can evolve into theropod Gabite.

NOTHING WEIRDER THAN REMORAID TO OCTILLERY. (btw I have my theory why this...but this gonna be in Sinnoh
backstory as Wei will get intereted in breeding Remoraid with Finneon)

-this is note to myself, I wrote it down to not forget:
Garchomp species came earlier than Gabite, but at the end of cretaceous and especially at C-T extinction,
like many Pokemon species, smaller and previous methamorphosis evolution stage were guarantee of survival.
They needed smaller amount of food and could reproduce faster thanks to reaching maturity earlier.

Moreover, some earlier stages of Pokemon species were better adapted to crisis situation.
Garchomp needs enormous amount of variety food sources which were present at late jurassic/early cretaceous
climate, while late cretaceous and C-T moment made Garchomp species extinct in theory, but thanks to Gabite species
and methamorphosis evolution coded in DNA, Garchomp is present till today.

Gabite's small outgrowth allowed it to come deep in caves as well as just reach areas unaviable for its evolution.
The middle stage of Gible line is also eating only meat, because it doesn't has developed "jet-engine" yet,
so it doesn't need to produce gases or to use highly caloric fat from fishes.

Fun fact pokemon Sword explained what it's 'horns' do at least in the case of Gabite: "This Pokémon emits ultrasonic waves from a protrusion on either side of its head to probe pitch-dark caves." Basically the horns exist so they can navigate through caves, which yes these are tough pokemon which can pack a punch but there is still more to them than just attacking, and I like how since they are cave pokemon they have 'evolved' to adapt to the low lighting that caves often have
