Description

I'm so sorry for the mess, but please DON'T ASK ME IF I WILL FINISH IT. I won't. AT MOST I might nail it a little bit
after I'll come up with final look of Steelix head/skull.
I am so done with my level of drawing skills. I failed so much with right proportions AND particular bones in Excadrill's skeleton
and I still cannot find any Steelix head redesign that would satissfy me. I have an idea, I simply cannot draw it right.

:iconsulkplz: I've uploaded such a crap, why...whyyy...yyyh. >deep breath<
-----------------------------------
Can we talk about these fantastic steel/ground types?

They're one of the most bizzare Pokemon for me to solve EVER.
You should thank Arceus I haven't eagerly posted all my Pokemon redesigns I've made EVER :iconheaddeskplz:
There are some Pokemon I think I changed over 5 times.

Mostly Gliscor, Swampert, Steelix and Scrafty. I've solved my personal view for Gliscor, Swampert after gathered enough
of needed references and now I'm working on what I want from Scrafty(I have huge trouble with artwork on "clothes").
Tropius and Excadrill got solved too, but their anatomy is challenging for my drawingskills :X

B-BUT STEELIX?
STEELIX? Really? Iron snake Pokemon...which is steel type.
POKEDEX, WE LOVE YOUR LIES. Iron is PART of steel! Go home Pokemon logic, you're drunk- would say professor Tipsy :iconimhappyplz:

I was young, 14-years old girl who also wanted to calculate its weight...'cause less than 1 ton?! Are you...KIDDING ME DEADLY SERIOUS?!
It's not float whale Pokemon. Even if not made with any heavy parts, I knew from paleontology adoration that even Iguanodon(almost
9 metres long) hits more weight. Steelix, you have no bones?
Or maybe I have no bones about what's inside it
I asked dad how I could TRY to calculate it and...I considered it's EVEN EMPTY INSIDE with 1cm-thick armour. Or 10 cm of iron armour.
NOOOOPE. I don't even remember what I've got, I'm sorry. I just caught Magnemite and Magneton weight relation and considered
these steel types have strong electromagnetism which prevents Pokemon professor's tools to measure their weight right.

I've never solved Steelix, even if I really wanted. That's also why I couldn't start my Sinnoh story, because Steelix appears
just right in Oreburgh's mines. YES, WEIRD. I have no idea why my brain got such idea, but the story exists in my head being
specific, so there's another reason why I wasn't eager to reveal it.

Now I think I would like to celebrate I've SOLVED in pretty logical and cool way one of the MOST BIZZARE POKEMON EVER.
Of course you might shake your head and disagree I've made realistic Pokemon, but I asked in one of my journals how people
consider and understand that term.
I happen to have way different view for some things, so it was really important for me to know.

For me it's all about realistic CONCEPT and if Pokemon use "magical" powers and understand commands(even if it's bug or reptile
it understands commands like dog)
, I consider them as living AND evolving in an alternate,
a bit fantasy world. An alternate universe, so an animal slightly redesigned as Pokemon which clearly is something not based
on animal like Pidgey or Sna- erm Ekans, I feel it piques Pokemon at all. BUT THAT'S MY HONEST OPINION.

I'm just having personal fun on "glutting", gathering real animals inspirations to keep as close to original design as I can.
Also, as every artist or art hobbyist, I have my own aestethics and way of expressing ideas, please have in mind.

Steel/ground type.

How much I LOVE this combo. Only dragon/steel or dragon/dark is equally cool in my eyes. This is my very first double typing which
I ever adored. Even if I've got to know Swampert's Water/Ground typing earlier, I always truly loved steel and ground.
Ground types are one of the best in-game, they're one of the strongest Pokemon with their STAB moves. Steel was as powerful as dragon before VI gen, but this is NOT why I love this type. Many of them has cool designs and just the STEEL TYPE. I adore them for thinking they have organic steel
which grows like ceratin structures or real life osteoderms or scales, but made of steel mixed with organic components like kolagen.

AAAAAHHHH~ and metallic shine, steel type Pokemon are just...BEAUTIFUL <3

Coming back to ground type, I am also weirdo to think about Pokemon types(not all, but most of them) rather as elementals.
That's why ground types are associated in my mind with earth elemental and when you mix it with earthworm, which raises
the "condition" of the ground and think about Onix and Steelix size, you might get why I like so much these Pokemon.
For me they keep Earth in good condition, making it a dynamic from the inside planet, Onix and Steelix help the plantet's "heart"
to beat. If a compressed and kept too long magma swollens the bedrock, Onix and Steelix tunnels helps the magma come out.
I know, irl there are no animals like this and the Earth "can live with that", but that's how I consider them and admire somewhat.

Steelix is really odd, but there are some weird Pokemon which I love just for being specific XD
and Steelix is one of them. I was SO, SO happy that we can catch it in wild in Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum. I started my adventure
in Pokemon series playing on emulators... Even if I would buy, I dunno if I could get Steelix- irl there was NO ONE who
would trade Onix with metal coat to me, I wasn't that into DeviantArt to know I can ask someone here.
ANYWAY...I just obviously caught one especially that backsprite was so pretty. My first Steelix ever was had docile nature.
AWWW :iconhurrplz:
and Rock Head. ROCK HEAD...?
Cuurse, cuurse, CURSE TO THE MAX AND THEN ROCK THAT BODY!
I Double-Edged everything after max cursing and rock polishing. GUYS, DO-YOU-KNOW-HOW-AMAZING-IT-WAS?!
I even went with my Haganeil into Battle Tower and he hardly dissapointed me. Yeah I know, it has many weaknesses AND...
...fourth gen with spam of some annoying special moves. Mostly pointing out aura sphere AND earth power. I don't mind them
personally, I love when Pokemon is not uber to be good at EVERTHING, but when it has definitely one good side. In game you can
overlevel your opponents and it just naturally happens after E4...so defensive Pokemon rules losing less than 20 HP :giggle:

Maybe it's just my personal experience, but because of 4th gen Steelix got knocked down and ignored. Where I would look out or listen,
it got rudiculouted and that's "outdated".
Grrrrh.

I also want to add, two of my favourite Gym Leaders have Steelix. I adore Jasmine and love Byron 'cause he also got Bastiodon.
Let me say...they steel my heart X'D

Steel/Ground typing seems brilliant to me. That's why I felt someone has to make this Pokemon shine. If anyone remembers
my traditional drawing of Byron with its Steelix...I guess MANY somehow remember it, wow :O

Then...5th gen came with Excadrill. Excadrill with Sand Rush. With unleashed potential of this typing combination. Defensive,
resisting paralyz wave, toxic AND stealth rocks typing turned into offensive powerhouse. Talk about turning the tables! :dummy:

Not to mention, I squealed over Excadrill's design concept. I'll tell few lines below.
When the true mole Pokemon came, I've got my personal revence and sword of justice for Steelix mistreating XD

Funny and personal thing, because one is super defensive while another is super offensive, blending it with my earth elemental
headcanon, I call these two as "the sword and shield of the Earth".

:iconloveloveplz:

Does anyone came across various drill digging creatures designs? How they look like? Claws turned into drills or drills sticking
out the head. I HAVE ENOUGH OF THIS TO BE HONEST. This is boring AND uncreative. Maaaaybe Drimogemon reminds a bit Narwhale, but...
STEEL, how many of them we see in such way? Only a drill-tail is soemthing cool, because it resembles "rattle" from rattlesnakes turned into drill.

The nature is often descripted as "creating" some amazing "ideas" through evolution and it's been always lovely in my eyes to see
how some animal's abilities or bodyparts are compared to something made by human. I would like also to mention, we can hear often
great predators called "killing machines"...and now you might understand why I ADORE Excadrill's design.

It can turn itself into living drill. As perfectly adapted to dig and go through bedrocks as real life mole's great at diggin'
with shovel-like hands.
Not to mention, A HELMET? A helmet! A digger with naturally grown helmet! WOOOOOOOOOOOT! :iconkiligplz:

Steelix looks nothing like standard ground type, while Excadrill looks nothing like common steel type(if we think about resisting to poison moves like smog or toxic), because few steel parts and just fluff x3
One of them is one of the biggest land Pokemon, the other is one of the smallest fully evolved ones. This is just fantastic~!

...Do you steel read my wall of text? You can end if you aren't interested in my OC's and how some artist's ideas change through
the time...as for example he/she just grows up. I always find it so interesting, so I also spam write it :D

Weirda's Steelix with kinda lame name Haganeil was my first OC Pokemon ever. Even Sinnoh's story comic cover was originally supposed
to be called "steel feather" and have Steelix in it. Haganeil was supposed to have three cut "wounds" below its left eye...
btw is it me, or many young ppl creating OC creatures give it wound under the eye on on the muzzle?
I just realized if Steelix has armour harder than diamond, even after heating it to highest temperatures, then cooling it to break
the armour with slash attack...it would rather break than receive a cut...WELL UGH...:iconorzplz:
Then I just decided to NOT follow my game playthrough of Diamond and Platinum, but to follow my imagination...and that's when
I started to create other Pokemon OCs, mostly pointing out developed Marshall(Swampert), Zuzy(Scrafty) and even Demonica(Houndoom).
Just because I imaginated myself in Pokemon World and I know I wouldn't like to rule the World or hit to be a champion catching
Pokemon which live in wild and (rather) have their own lives rather than just battle for sport. Okay, now you might tell
"wild Pokemon ATTACK us, let's consider we encounter THAT percent!"...all right, but Wei wouldn't catch them, but leave in peace.
She's that kind of caring about wild creatures and caring at them rather than dominating feel to enslave them.

I once wanted to turn Weirda's Steelix into "badass" one with adamant or brave nature like my second caught one in Platinum file
on which I based nailed Sinnoh story, but...that would fail to work for me like Demon the Houndoom which was supposed to be like
Weirda's Scrafty, rebellious and not so obligent to its owner. There's even still a drawing in my gallery of Weirda's team
with MALE Houndoom. I gave Haganeil more its animal behaviour side, while Demonica is the odd one to go againist "badass" Houndoom
stereotype.

After I went through relations between snake Pokemon I know it would be nice to update my reptile Pokemon evolution tree,
but my computer cannot hang on such file size with huge amount of layers...I'm trying to overcome that to not crash the file.

Btw I really want Onix and Steelix to be amphisbaenians and Dunsparce to be scink(especially shingleback lizard), but hognose
snakes and dragonsnake are fascinating and awesome! :iconkiligplz:
Hognose snake's headbutting instead of biting would explain serene grace ability for Dunsparce as it has better skills in headbutting
coming from natural instictal behaviour.

I'm sorry if the text is not fully understandable, I'm just going to bed and I'll correct typos or odd sentences tomorrow.
